The Postgraduate Department of English at Sri Vasavi College (Aided Wing) is a distinguished centre for literary studies, research, and communication excellence. Course Overview
The Master of Arts in English Literature (M.A. English) is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to deepen students’ literary knowledge, theoretical understanding and research skills.
The course explores a wide spectrum of literary genres and movements — from Chaucer to Postmodernism, encompassing both Western and Indian literary traditions. It also introduces students to contemporary criticism, linguistics, cultural studies, translation and communication skills, preparing them for careers in teaching, research, and media.
Through interactive discussions, term papers, and presentations, students are trained to interpret, analyze and appreciate literature as a powerful form of human expression.
