ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department was established in the academic year 1998-99 to offer B.Sc., Costume Design & Fashion programme with a sanctioned strength of 32. This programme is a job-oriented one. The students have hands-on exposure to Garment Construction, Fashion illustration, Dyeing, Printing, Recent trends in fashion and Entrepreneurship. This programme is an income-generating Course. Besides, job opportunities are abundant in various garment units, Textile Industries and Fashion Industries. With modern laboratories, experienced faculty.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates seeking admission to the first year degree of Bachelor of Science in Costume Design and Fashion shall be required to have passed in any Higher Secondary Course examination.
ABOUT THE COURSE
The course for the degree of Bachelor of Science Costume Design and Fashion shall extend over a period of 3 Academic years undergraduate programme affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. In this programme 6 Semesters and each semester normally consisting of 90 working days or 450 Hours. It imparts comprehensive knowledge in Fashion Designing, Fiber Science, Garment Construction, Illustration and Marketing.
ABOUT THE CURRICULUM
The curriculum framed by Bharathiar University ensures a balanced mix of design innovation, Scientific understanding and business orientation.
- Core Subjects: Basics of Garment Construction, Fashion Design, Fiber to Fabric, Textile Wet Processing, Fabric Structure and Design Analysis and Knitting
- Allied Papers: Fashion Illustration Practical, Fashion Designing, Fiber to Fabric Practical
- Skill-Based Subjects: Dyeing and Printing, Surface Embellishment, CAD
- Electives Subjects: Entrepreneurial Development, Marketing and Merchandising, Home Textile and Apparel Quality Management
- Value - Added Training: CorelDRAW, Photoshop
- Internship & Project Work: Industrial visits and Internships in garment units and Textile Industries
Students frequently participate in Fashion Shows, Exhibitions, Inter-collegiate design contests and Various Competition.

- Dying and Printing Lab for dye & tie the fabric and analysis the Colour Fastness
