PG Course Offered: The Postgraduate Department of Applied Electronics at
Sri Vasavi College (Self-Finance Wing), Erode was established in the academic year
2002–2003 to promote higher education and research in Electronics and Communication Systems.
The department emphasizes advanced knowledge in electronics, instrumentation, communication,
and embedded systems.
With highly qualified faculty and modern labs, the department has produced technocrats
and researchers contributing to telecommunication, automation, embedded systems, and
VLSI design.

- Electronics Circuits Lab with advanced measuring instruments and signal generators
- Digital and Microprocessor Lab with microcontrollers, sensors, and Arduino kits
- VLSI and Embedded Systems Lab with FPGA kits and Keil tools
- Communication Lab for analog, digital, and optical communication experiments
- MATLAB and Simulation Tools for circuit design, control systems, and DSP
Unique Highlights
Limited Availability in Erode District: B.Sc. Electronics is offered by only two colleges in Erode District, and Sri Vasavi College (Self-Finance Wing) is one of the select institutions offering this programme. Notably, M.Sc. Applied Electronics is exclusively offered by Sri Vasavi College (SF Wing), making it the only institution in the district to provide this postgraduate programme.
Consistent University Rank Achievements: Students of the B.Sc. Electronics and M.Sc. Applied Electronics programmes have been securing University Ranks every academic year, reflecting the department’s strong academic excellence and mentoring.
Department Achievements
- Students developed projects for the college including Solar Street Lights, Mobile Controlled Motor Starter, Automatic Day Order Display, and Automatic College Bell. The total project value was Rs. 34,500.
- The department publishes an academic bulletin titled “Vasavi Sense”, featuring selected articles contributed by UG and PG students.
- Organized an Industrial Visit to the Solar Observatory Museum, Kodaikanal for practical exposure.
- I M.Sc. Applied Electronics students B. Arunkumar, S. Rithika, and D. Megeswaran participated in the National Level Science Exhibition at Christ University, Bangalore (28.02.2025) and won a Special Cash Prize of Rs. 2500 for their project titled “Wireless Data Communication.”
- Conducted a One Day Workshop on “Arduino Hardware” on 14 March 2025 by Mr. R. Ramesh, Embedded Engineer, Embuzz Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Erode, providing hands-on training on Arduino and embedded systems.
- Organized a Field Trip to the Radio Astronomy Centre (RAC), Ooty on 26.09.2025 for I, II & III B.Sc. Electronics students. Participants explored the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) and learned about radio signal detection and astronomical research.
